Portumna is famous for its fishing centre and marina for Lough Derg and the Shannon and has golf (18) and tennis. Outside the town are the ruins of Portumna Castle. Portumna Forest Park is 2 km from the town. This wildlife sanctuary of one thousand acres borders Lough Derg and has a laid out nature trail. Local amenities include, Fishing, Watersports, Go Karting, Forest Walks and Pitch and Putt.
